Ben utilises many years of experience as a Graphic Designer and Mixed Media Artist to produce dramatic free-flowing studies and industrial style photography.

His relaxed drawing style relies on strong erratic lines and vibrant colouring techniques to bring his landscapes and other studies to life, while his interest in distressed environments and abstract form creates engaging compositional photographs.  His work is becoming more and more popular and he has produced commissions for clients globally. He loves to travel and is always looking for his next subjects and series.

CITY ARTS NEWBURY - CHRISTMAS FAIR

City Arts Newbury this Saturday and Sunday from 10am to 4pm - I will be there Saturday along with many other artisans - pop in and say hello!

The ‘Distressed’ series is an insight into the environment around us and what can be perceived as art within the systematic dismantlement of man’s creations by mother nature and other forces.

What started as photographic inspiration for my paintings turned into the final subject itself - an observation of the decay and distress found within our surroundings. Architecture and design slowly warping and eroding at the hands of time, the elements and mankind’s interference. These all take their toll in different ways and can be used to symbolise the fragility of our very existence.

Within this disintegration of structure I have found composition, colour, beauty and life.

No explanation is needed for the final visuals, I hope you embrace the images and that within them, you see the complexity of nature’s involvement and also question our impact on the environment.

Limited edition photographic prints from the series are available on request. The "Distressed Vol1' booklet is also available on request or through my Etsy store.

Cre(ART)ing a Library for Nepal - Saturday 6th October

KINTBURY ART EXHIBITION - Friday 7th September - Saturday 9th September

I am taking part in the 20:20 print exchange this year. Numerous artists from around the country work together in their studios to produce a series of prints which are then sent off to a central collection points. Each studio will then receive a selection of prints from the other artists and each artist will receive 19 random prints for themselves to keep.

My effort is a 4 colour lino reduction print. I have not done one for a while so I was very happy with the outcome! As a group each artist must supply 25 prints at a size of 20cm x 20cm. In my infinite wisdom and after a slight miss calculation, where I thought I was only meant to produce 20, I managed to produce 26 prints!

That makes this run a very limited edition indeed! With the one spare print already earmarked by someone it will indeed be a rarity!

It was good fun and hard work and I had to take over the kitchen and bathroom for a couple of days. This has pushed me to improve the space and usage in my studio!
